Colorado QB Dies in Single-Car Accident
BOULDER, CO (October 15, 2023) — Dominiq Ponder, a backup quarterback for the University of Colorado, died in a single-car accident over the weekend.
The crash occurred late Saturday night when Ponder’s vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree. Emergency responders arrived at the scene but were unable to save Ponder, who was pronounced dead on-site. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and Ponder was the sole occupant of the car.
The university community is mourning the loss of the young athlete, with teammates and coaches expressing their condolences to Ponder’s family. A vigil is planned on campus to honor his memory.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, but have not yet released any additional details.
