Person Killed in West Covina I-10 Crash

WEST COVINA, CA (January 1, 2026) — One person was killed Thursday evening in a crash on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in West Covina, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.

According to the CHP, the multi-vehicle collision was reported at 6:34 p.m. on the westbound I-10 freeway east of Sunset Avenue. The crash involved multiple vehicles, and at least two came to rest in the slow lane while a third was positioned near the gore point, where the freeway meets the off-ramp. CHP units were dispatched shortly after the first calls were received.

First responders arrived on scene to find smoke coming from one of the vehicles, and personnel from the Los Angeles County coroner’s office were summoned around 7:15 p.m. as efforts were made to tend to the injured. Tragically, one person was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
