PALMDALE, CA (November 6, 2025) — A 38-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning after being struck by a hit-and-run sedan in Palmdale, authorities confirmed. The fatal crash occurred around 4:13 a.m. near 20th Street East and Avenue S.
According to a watch commander from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale Station, the driver of a light-blue 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling westbound on Avenue S in the left lane when the woman, who was pushing a shopping cart across the street, was hit.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead at the location. She was later identified as 38-year-old Jeanette Garcia.
Deputies located the Mercury at a Palmdale address and arrested the driver on suspicion of multiple felony charges. Officials said alcohol was a factor in the crash, and the vehicle was impounded as evidence.
