Ontario DUI Big Rig Crash on I-10

ONTARIO, CA — Tractor-trailer crash on 10 Freeway leaves multiple victims, DUI suspect arrested

Ontario, CA (Oct. 21, 2025) — A violent multi-vehicle crash on the westbound 10 Freeway in Ontario left several people dead and others injured, according to the California Highway Patrol. Authorities say a tractor-trailer slammed into slow-moving traffic near the I-15 interchange, triggering a fiery chain-reaction collision.

According to CHP statements, the driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as a 21-year-old resident of Yuba City, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence after the truck crashed into multiple vehicles that were stopped in heavy traffic. Witnesses reported that the red-cab tractor-trailer struck several vehicles, including another big rig, before careening into an additional lane and colliding with more cars. Video captured from Sky5 showed extensive wreckage across the freeway.

Authorities allege the driver, identified as Jashanpreet Singh, did not apply his brakes before impact. CHP officials stated that he has been booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and vehicular manslaughter. Officials also confirmed that multiple victims died in the crash, and at least two others were transported to the hospital for injuries.

Some of the victims have not been publicly identified, and CHP said notifications to families are still in progress. CHP spokesperson Rodrigo Jimenez told reporters that two victims were inside a vehicle so heavily damaged and burned that investigators have not yet been able to determine the make or model. A third victim was reportedly in a pickup truck.

Our thoughts are with the families who lost loved ones in this tragic crash, as well as those recovering from their injuries.

CHP officials say investigators are reconstructing the collision and reviewing potential contributing factors, including alleged impairment and possible mechanical issues. Authorities also confirmed that a dash-cam video shared on social media will be part of the investigation. CHP’s Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team is leading the reconstruction due to the number of commercial vehicles involved and the severity of the collision.

In California, victims of suspected DUI crashes may pursue compensation for medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering. When a life is lost, eligible family members may also seek wrongful death damages to help cover funeral costs, loss of companionship, and other related losses.
