PALMDALE, CA — Driver Arrested After Head-On Crash Kills One
PALMDALE, CA (Oct. 20, 2025) — A 47-year-old Rosamond woman was killed early Sunday in a head-on collision on Sierra Highway, and a 29-year-old Palmdale man has been arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 12:07 a.m. on Sierra Highway, just south of Avenue E. CHP investigators said the suspect, identified only as “Gonzalez,” was driving a 1999 Chevrolet southbound when he crossed over the solid double yellow lines and into oncoming traffic. His vehicle struck a 2018 Hyundai head-on. The woman driving the Hyundai died at the scene, while Gonzalez suffered major injuries.
According to CHP, Gonzalez had reportedly drifted into opposing lanes several times before the collision. He was transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center, then later booked on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The roadway was shut down for approximately three hours while officials investigated and cleared the scene.
