Equine Accident – Fractured Pelvis Settlement
Our client suffered a fractured pelvis after falling from a horse in California when the saddle was not properly secured by the responsible party. A pelvic fracture is one of the most serious orthopedic injuries a person can sustain – requiring surgery, extended hospitalization, and months of rehabilitation, with the potential for long-term complications including chronic pain, difficulty walking, and permanent physical limitations.
In equine incident cases in California, liability can attach to riding facilities, stable operators, trail operators, or instructors who fail to properly maintain equipment – including saddles and their fasteners – or who allow unsafe conditions that put riders at risk. While California’s Equine Liability Act provides some protection to equine activity sponsors, negligent maintenance of equipment such as an improperly secured saddle falls outside those protections and creates clear grounds for a personal injury claim.
Feher Law pursued the claim on behalf of our client and secured a $1,250,000 settlement to compensate for the serious pelvic fracture, medical expenses, surgical costs, pain and suffering, and the lasting impact on our client’s physical health and mobility. If you were injured in a horseback riding accident in California due to negligently maintained equipment, contact Feher Law for a free consultation.
