Pedestrian Killed on 5 Freeway in Santa Fe Springs

SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA (Dec. 7, 2025) — A male pedestrian was struck and killed on the southbound Santa Ana Freeway Sunday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported around 7:12 p.m. on the 5 Freeway just south of Valley View Avenue. According to CHP, the pedestrian was lying in the roadway when he was run over by a vehicle that did not stop. Authorities shut down the HOV, No. 1, and No. 2 lanes, and CHP requested a closure from Caltrans while they responded and investigated.

Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss.

CHP officials confirmed that the incident remains under investigation.
